THE HAGUE CONVENTIONS IN GREECE

 

8. Convention of 25 October 1980 on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction

 

Greece signed this Convention on 25/10/1980 and ratified it by Law 2102/1992 (Government Gazette vol. A’ 193/1992).

Pursuant to Ministerial Decision (Foreign Affairs) No. Ö.0546/13/ÁÓ 276/28-5/14-6-93 (Government Gazette vol. A’ 91/1993), this Convention entered into force in Greece on 01/06/1993.

 

Greece has made the following Reservations concerning Articles 24 and 26 of this Convention:

(Translation from Greek):

“1. In accordance with Article 42 of the Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction, Greece declares that it shall not be bound to assume any costs referred to in the second paragraph of Article 26 resulting from the participation of legal counsel or advisers or from court proceedings, except insofar as those costs concern areas of free legal aid.

2. In accordance with Article 42 of the abovementioned Convention, Greece declares that it objects to the use of the French language in any application, communication or other document sent to its Central Authority.”
